The major in accounting is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in accounting. This program will qualify graduates to sit for the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination in Virginia. However, certification requires 150 hours of college credits. Most public accounting firms give hiring preference to applicants who have completed the full 150 hours prior to starting work.
The B.S. in Accounting program is ideal for degree completers and for those who hold an associate degree in business. The junior/senior years in the program of study are offered entirely online, and allow for the completion of 60* credit hours in general business and major coursework. This program is available in the following formats: Face-to-face, Distance (100% web-based).
*The total minimum number of credit hours required to graduate with this degree is 120 credits. If a student comes into this bachelor’s degree program with an associate’s degree, the degree could be completed in as few as 60 credits. However, additional credits may be required if prerequisites have not been met.
