Identification cards – Every registered ELP student
receives a university identification number and card. This
card allows ELP students to use the university facilities
(library, computer labs, gymnasium, pools, tennis courts and
exercise equipment) and to attend university events (sporting
events, concerts and cultural exhibits). There is a small
additional fee to use the gymnasiums or pool facilities.
Language lab – ELP students may have extra practice
and improve their listening, pronunciation, reading, grammar
and writing by using software in the university’s Language
Learning Center. TOEFL preparation materials also are available
in the language lab.
Computer labs – ELP students may use the university’s
computer labs to type class assignments, send e-mail and/or
use the Internet.
Recreational Sports Center – ELP students may join
the activities of the university’s Recreational Sports
Center. These activities include hiking, canoeing, rafting,
rock climbing, rappelling, skiing and caving. There is a small
fee for participating.
Conversation partners – ELP students may request a
native, English-speaking conversation partner to meet with
and practice English.
Friendship families – ELP students may also request
to be connected with a local family in the Richmond community.
Students visit the family once a month for a fun activity.
