Booking flights

Helpful information on booking air travel

In most cases, VCU Summer Study Abroad programs do not include airfare. This allows students the flexibility to access frequent flyer miles or to extend travel dates associated with their summer program. If air travel arrangements are not included in the program package, we strongly advise that you plan your trip according to the guidelines below.

  1. Apply for your program early. Airfares jump dramatically after the first of May, so it is in your best interest to arrange your flight in April.
  2. Complete the acceptance packet quickly. Your International Student Identification Card is a part of your acceptance packet. You can use this card to get discounted airfare.
  3. Stay in touch with the program director. The program director can often offer good advice on travel routes that can help you save money.
  4. Use Blackboard to talk to the other students in the course. This is a great way to connect with others and make arrangements to travel together.
