The field of life sciences is one of the most challenging and exciting paths of study for students who are preparing for work in the 21st century. Few will contest the argument that interdisciplinary approaches will be the way of the most successful scientists in this arena. Moreover, it is generally accepted that application of the information sciences in life sciences research will be an essential ingredient to success. The Center for the Study of Biological Complexity focuses its undergrad and graduate teaching curricula in the area of 'bioinformatics', to produce students who will be extremely competitive for future jobs.
