Complete your degree at VCU
For adult learners
It’s time to finish what you started
We know going back to school can feel intimidating. Maybe you were unable to finish your degree due to family commitments or financial challenges, and you didn’t receive the support you needed. You’re likely asking yourself if this time can be different. The answer is yes.
As an adult learner, you can choose from a couple of opportunities at VCU. You can apply to VCU as a transfer student and see how college credits you've previously earned can potentially get you closer to earning your degree. Or, if you attended VCU before, you can apply to be readmitted.
No matter your path to get here, we’re committed to seeing every student succeed.
Apply to VCU
Earning your bachelor’s degree is worth it. Not only does it help you be more competitive in an uncertain job market, it also makes you a role model to your family and opens up opportunities for higher earning potential.

Plus, it can mean better job security. Those with a bachelor’s degree or higher showed a substantially lower unemployment rate during the initial economic challenges brought on by the coronavirus pandemic compared to those with some college or an associate degree.

“VCU means so much to me. The university and fellow Rams became my friends. Many professors were there to listen to my concerns and provided appropriate support to help me move toward my ambitions. I’m 42 years old and never had the opportunity to complete what I embarked upon years ago until now, and am here graduating from college.”

“I remember my first day back at VCU, after having been gone over 20 years. I was standing there that warm August day in 2017, the first day of classes, overwhelmed by how different everything looked, kinda scared, not knowing anyone, and praying for the strength to be successful after so many years of wanting to complete my undergraduate studies. VCU stopped being just a place to get a degree and finally became my home. And now I am standing here in my graduation robe and cap and it's different, and I am overwhelmed all over again because I did it.”

Bachelor of Arts in English, graduated May 2020
