ADS5055: Mandated Reporters: Recognizing and Reporting Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of Adults - Online
This self-paced, interactive, online course is designed to help professionals designated as mandated reproters in Virginia to recognize the signs of adult abuse, neglect and exploitation. Upon completion of this course, mandated reporters will better understand their responsibility regarding the procedures involved in reporting mistreatment of older adults and adults with an incapacitation.

Topics include:

  • Defining the types of adult abuse, neglect and exploitation recognized in Virginia
  • Recognizing the indicators of aduse, neglect and exploitation of older and incapacitated adults
  • Understanding the role and responsibilities of mandated reporters
  • Following procedures for reporting suspected abuse, neglect and exploitation of adults
  • Knowing what information is needed by Adult Protective Services (APS) when making a report
  • Being familiar with the response of APS to reports of suspected abuse, neglect and exploitation
  • Knowing what to expect from an APS worker after a report is made
