SCHOOL
NURSE INSTITUTE PARTNERSHIP(SNIP)
Overview
The
original School Nurse Institute has been expanded through partnerships
with nine schools of nursing across Virginia. The purpose is to provide
and deliver staff development training for school nurses through regional
collaboration. Additionally, the preparation of future school nurses is
being explored among several schools of nursing. (Funded by the Virginia
Department of Health and the Virginia Department of Education. Specific
training events are funded by registration fees and specific contracts.)

- Maintain
and expand a SNIP web site
- Support
a two-day school nurse orientation conference yearly
- Conduct
emergency medical services training for school nurses with emphasis
on children
- Support
regional training on identified topics in collaboration with schools
of nursing
- Market
publications
- Develop
certification opportunities for school nurses
- Enhance
university course work in school nursing
