PREP Project
Providing Resources and Education for Professionals Who Work with Infants and Young Children Who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and Their Families

Overview
The PREP Project provides statewide training to increase awareness and develop competencies of professionals in Virginia for working with infants and young children who are deaf or hard of hearing and their families. (Funded by Virginia Department of Education, Virginia Department of Health, Virginia Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation, and Substance Abuse Services (Part C) and the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.)

Major Activities

  • Develop curriculums for two levels of training: Awareness Level and Intermediate Level
  • Establish and convene Steering Committee and Advisory Council for consultation
  • Pilot Test of curricula
  • Identify trainers for "Train the Trainer" model to implement on-going, statewide trainings
  • Provide statewide training at two levels over two-year period
  • Evaluate project activities
