Behavioral
Intervention Program
Overview
The Behavioral Intervention Program provides holistic and systemic positive
behavioral support to children, adolescents, and adults residing in the
city of Richmond who have mental retardation and challenging behaviors.
Services are also provided to consumers' families and professionals who
work with these individuals. (Funded by the Richmond Behavioral Health
Authority.)
Major
Activities
- Assist
in the definition and analysis of difficult behaviors
- Assess
ecological dynamics surrounding difficult behaviors
- Demonstrate,
design, and monitor nonaversive behavior plans
- Provide
technical assistance and positive behavioral support training
- Provide
support to the referred individual and his/her family in coping with
the stress resulting from challenging behaviors
- Advocate
for the use of other community services and natural supports to the
individual and his/her family
- Provide
crisis stabilization services for RBHA consumers as needed
