Abuse and Neglect of Children with Disabilities

Overview
This one-year training effort is directed toward increasing awareness and skills of health professionals in preventing and responding to the abuse and neglect of children with disabilities. By partnering with four other state UCEs, a national teleconference will be produced and delivered in spring 2002. (Funding for this initiative is provided by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.)

Major Activities

  • Form both local and national planning and development committees to determine extent of content
  • Field test awareness level of content for health professionals
  • Produce national teleconference
  • Deliver teleconference on abuse and neglect of children with disabilities for health profession audiences by May 2002
