C3B and VCURES Collaboration Awarded $2.8 Million Grant from U.S. Army to Develop Implantable Lactate BioChip to Determine Severity of Hemorrhage.
The Center for Bioelectronics, Biosensors and Biochips (C3B) at Virginia Commonwealth University has received notice of a $ 2.8 million award from the Department of Defense Peer Reviewed Medical Research Program (DoD PRMRP) of the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materials Command's Office to support the development of implantable biochips with remote powering and readout capabilities. VCURES Investigator Invention Profiled in Optics Trade Magazine
A device developed by Roland Pittman, PhD was featured in the 2002 July/August edition of Biophotonics International. The invention is a stabilization device that improves the quality of capillary blood flow images using the technique of orthogonal polarization spectral imaging (OPSI). Full Story.

Five VCURES investigators attended the 2002 Advanced Technology Applications for Combat Casualty Care (ATACCC) (http://www.usaccc.org/ataccc/) meeting in St. Pete Beach, FL September 9-13 2002.
