Mission
The Central Virginia Task Force on Domestic Violence in Later Life is a local
partnership of organizations working since 1998 to raise awareness and improve the community response to women aged 50 and
older who experience domestic, sexual or family violence.
Our purposes include:

Increasing awareness of the prevalence of domestic, sexual and family violence in the lives
of women aged 50 and older |

Providing a forum for resource sharing and interaction among service providers and agencies |

Promoting cross training and collaboration among service providers and agencies |
| - |
Supporting and recommending policy and program initiatives, and seeking funding for training, outreach
and services to address the needs of this Underserved population |
Projects and Funding
The Virginia Center on Aging administers two projects on behalf of the OBW Task Force.
Through these projects we provide training and resources to assist law enforcement, criminal justice professionals, aging
service providers, domestic violence and sexual assault programs, and allied service professionals in working collaboratively
and responding to the unique needs of women aged 50 and over.
Central Virginia Task Force on Domestic Violence in Later Life
Focus: domestic (intimate partner) violence and sexual assault in the second half of life
Jurisdictions served: City of Richmond, and Counties of Chesterfield, Hanover, and Henrico
Funding: Virginia Services, Training, Officers, Prosecution (V-STOP) Violence against Women grant program,
administered by the Virginia Dept. of Criminal Justice Services
Family Abuse Project
Focus: family violence and sexual assault in the second half of life
Jurisdictions served: City of Richmond, and Counties of Chesterfield, Hanover, and Henrico; Technical assistance provided
statewide
Funding: Virginia Domestic Violence Victim Fund (VDVVF), Virginia Dept. of Criminal Justice Services.
