About the Division

The mission of the VCU Division of Urology is to provide culturally competent care in an efficient and timely manner, as well as to educate patients and those within their support system in order to maintain and promote their well-being.

Our physicians and staff take great pride in the division’s long tradition of clinical excellence and cutting-edge research. Our surgeons have made substantial contributions to the field of urology and have helped patients all over the world. We are committed to our patients and to our tradition of excellence in clinical urology and urologic research.

Surgical Expertise

Our surgeons provide subspecialty expertise in the areas of urologic cancer, incontinence and voiding dysfunction, minimally invasive urology, robotic surgery, urinary stone disease, erectile dysfunction, pediatric urology, and urologic trauma. In 2008, the division played an instrumental role in VCU Medical Center acquiring the da Vinci Surgical System, which enables us to offer a vast array of minimally invasive and robotic procedures to treat patients. The division also has the most up-to-date equipment for performing video urodynamic procedures and biofeedback.

Dr. Grob, patientThe Division of Urology offers comprehensive surgical options and procedures for our patients including cryosurgery, endoscopic surgery, laser surgery, microwave therapy, radiofrequency ablation, robotic surgery, laparoscopic surgery and lithotripsy for kidney stones. The division also offers office procedures such as prostate biopsy and ultrasound, urodynamic procedures, vasectomy and cystoscopy. Learn more about how we treat these conditions.

The Urologic Tumor Center, partnering with the VCU Massey Cancer Center and the departments of Hematology-Oncology and Radiation Oncology, provides a multi-disciplinary approach for patients with urologic cancer. The division provides care for the VCU Medical Center and the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center.

We enjoy full access to resources uniquely available at the VCU Medical Center, including state-of-the art radiology services, medical oncology and fully staffed 24-hour critical care and emergency room facilities. Additionally, a urologist is available 24 hours a day.
