The current cohort of UPLink Scholars recently completed their interdisciplinary field projects at the following community locations:

  • Chesterfield Infant Program – an infant and toddler program providing community-based services in natural environments
  • Children’s Hospital – an infant and toddler program providing services in other settings
  • Henrico County Schools – a self-contained preschool setting using an integrated therapy model
  • Powhatan County Schools – a preschool program using a reverse inclusion model
  • Weinstein Jewish Community Center – a preschool program using an inclusive model

The purpose of this group project is for students to learn first hand about early intervention and early childhood special education services, intervention models and interdisciplinary professional roles. One of the most effective ways to accomplish this by having students go into the field to observe, ask questions and then discuss their experiences within their individual interdisciplinary teams. The culmination of this project is a group presentation to the class and UPLink faculty members.
We would like to thank our community partners in the greater Richmond metropolitan area for their commitment to the field and their participation in training future practitioners!
