American Foundation
for the Blind – Since 1921, the American Foundation
for the Blind — to which Helen Keller devoted more than
40 years of her life — has been eliminating barriers
that prevent people who are blind or visually impaired from
reaching their potential.

The Deafblind
Association – The Deafblind Association's mission
is to ensure a lifestyle of independence, dignity and empowerment
for its deaf-blind clients and their support persons, by the
provision and promotion of high-quality services, information,
advocacy and quality-of-life enhancement programs.
Department
for the Blind and Vision Impaired, Virginia – The
mission of the Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired
is to enable blind or visually impaired individuals to achieve
their maximum level of employment, education and personal
independence.
Hilton/Perkins
Program – The Perkins School for the Blind has established
the Hilton/Perkins Program through a generous grant from the
Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. The mission of this innovative
program is to improve the quality of life for children worldwide
who are multi-handicapped blind or deaf-blind. The program
aims to improve the lives of these youth and their families
through increased educational opportunities.

Resources for Special Children – The IRSC Web site
is dedicated to children with disabilities and other health-related
disorders worldwide.
Laurent
Clerc National Deaf Education Center, Gallaudet University
– The Clerc Center has been mandated by Congress to
develop, evaluate and disseminate innovative curricula, instructional
techniques, strategies and materials to improve the quality
of education for deaf and hard of hearing children and youth
from birth through age 21.
Louis
Database: The American Printing House for the Blind –
The American Printing House for the Blind currently houses
a database called the Louis Database of Accessible Materials
for People who are Blind or Visually Impaired. Louis contains
information about more than 152,000 titles of accessible materials
including braille, large print, sound recordings and computer
files from over 200 agencies throughout the United States.
National
Family Association for Deaf-Blind – The National
Family Association for Deaf-Blind is a nonprofit, volunteer-based
family association. Its philosophy is that individuals who
are deaf-blind are valued members of society and are entitled
to the same opportunities and choices as other members of
the community.
National Federation
of the Blind – Founded in 1940, the National Federation
of the Blind is the nation's largest and most influential
membership organization of blind persons. With fifty thousand
members, the NFB has affiliates in all fifty states plus Washington
D.C. and Puerto Rico, and over seven hundred local chapters.
National
Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped
– NLS maintains an international catalog online. In
addition to books produced by NLS, the online catalog lists
books produced in special format and reported to NLS.
Perkins
School for the Blind – Chartered in 1829, Perkins
School for the Blind was the first school for the blind in
the United States. For almost 170 years the staff at Perkins
has been providing quality services to students and clients
who are blind, visually handicapped, deaf-blind and multi-handicapped.
As the programs and services at Perkins have grown, their
focus has evolved and extended beyond the campus and into
many different communities throughout the United States and
around the world.
RSA:
Blind and Visually Impaired Division – The Division
for the Blind and Visually Impaired provides guidance and
technical assistance to improve the achievement of employment
outcomes for persons who are blind and visually impaired.
The division also oversees the implementation of the Randolph-Sheppard
Act and provides federal funding and support to the Helen
Keller National Center for Deaf-Blind Youth and Adults.
The Speech-Language-Hearing
Association of Virginia – The Speech-Language-Hearing
Association of Virginia is an association of over 700 audiologists
and speech-language pathologists working to meet the needs
of people with communication impairments in Virginia.
Together
We Can – Together We Can provides services for children
from birth to age 22. It also provides training, technical
assistance and many other resources to the parents and professionals
who work with those children.
Virginia
Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing – The
Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing works
to reduce the communication barriers between persons who are
deaf or hard of hearing and their families and the professionals
who serve them.
