Academic AdvisingPre-HealthPre-Health Home | Prospective Students | Acceleration Program | BS in Health Preparation/Professional Sciences | Pre-Health Sciences Programs | Applying to a Professional Program | BS in Health Preparation/Professional SciencesStarting in the fall of 2013, all pre-health programs will be designated on a student’s record as an advising track interest. Students interested in pursuing a pre-health program should declare the BS in Health Preparation/Professional Sciences (HPPS) as their primary major. For example: students intending to enter the nursing program will declare HPPS in science as their major with pre-nursing as an advising track/ concentration. The Interdisciplinary Science Bachelors Degree is offered through the College of Humanities and Sciences. HPPS allows students the flexibility to work towards this Bachelors degree while taking the pre-requisite courses for their intended health profession. Students will work closely with pre-health advisors to select courses that fulfill their health care program pre-requisites and major requirements. http://www.pubapps.vcu.edu/BULLETINS/archives/201112_UB/chs.pdf Although it does not guarantee admissions into any program, this degree will help students to become more competitive in their application into pre-health programs in the health sciences. As students successfully complete science courses and other admission requirements, students and advisors will determine a timeframe to apply for admissions into their intended health care programs.
