The University College’s mission is to enhance student success, and we believe student success and engagement is a team effort, a collaboration among students, their families and the faculty and staff of the university.  Students’ parents and families play an important role in their college students’ education. The University College associate dean serves as the liaison between the university and the parents and families of first-year students.

Several UC services for parents are offered, allowing you to support your first-year college students.  Parent orientation is offered during New Student Orientation, with programs specifically geared toward parents and the transitions and questions you may have. Parents of freshman students receive a copy of the RAMS FAM, the parent newsletter, mailed quarterly to the students’ permanent address on university file.  Parents are also encouraged to attend VCU events planned especially for family involvement.

To reach the Freshman Parent Association or for more information on joining the organization, email firstyrfm@vcu.edu or visit Freshman Parent Association.
