FIA Home | Meet the Associates | Session Schedules

 

The Focused Inquiry Associates program aims to encourage new students to become active, involved learners through community learning workshops organized and developed by fellow students. The program coincides and builds on curriculum in the Focused Inquiry (FI) courses, which are the main component of VCU’s core education program. The goal of the FIA program is to provide active learning support for first-year students in order to facilitate the thinking and learning challenges of the FI sequence.

 

Each year, outstanding FI students will be given the opportunity to participate in the FIA program as associates. In addition to a comprehensive schedule of workshops and planning meetings, FIA teams visit FI classrooms to stay connected to the curriculum, to promote the program and to positively model academic expectations for incoming students.
