How much does tutoring cost?

All tutoring services are free for VCU undergraduates.

 

When are you open?

The Campus Learning Center’s hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays during the fall and spring semesters.

 

Who will be tutoring me?

All tutors at the CLC are current students.  They have completed a minimum of 40 credit hours and have at least 3.0 GPA.  Tutors have earned an “A” or “B” in the classes they tutor.

 

How do I make an appointment?

You must make appointments in person at the CLC.  You will be asked to register using your eID (which is your VCU email address without the @vcu.edu).  After you register, an appointment will be made for you.  The entire process takes about five minutes. 

 

Can I make appointments over the telephone?

No, you must come in to the CLC.

 

How far in advance do I need to make an appointment?

At least two days in advance. For example, if you come into the CLC on Monday, the earliest you can have an appointment would be Wednesday.

 

What do I do if I need to cancel an appointment?

Notify the CLC Monday through Friday by calling (804) 827-8108, 24 hours in advance of your appointment time.  If you do not cancel the appointment within that 24 hour period, the appointment will be considered a no-show.  After the second no- show, your individual tutoring services will be suspended for the remainder of the semester. 

 

When should I call if I have an appointment on a Monday and I need to cancel it?

To avoid a no-show, you will need to call the Friday prior to your appointment before 5 pm.

 

How many appointments can I have per week?

You may have one appointment per week, per subject.  Additional appointments may be made at the discretion of the tutor coordinator.  Drop-in tutoring is unlimited.

 

How many subjects can I receive tutoring for per week? 

You may have one appointment per week for two subjects.  Additional appointments may be made at the discretion of the tutor coordinator. 

                        

Can I have two appointments back-to-back for different subjects?

Yes.  The two appointments are considered separate appointments, so be careful if you miss both in one day, as you would then have accumulated two no-shows.

 

What do I need to do if I would like to make recurring appointments with my tutor?

After your first appointment with a tutor, you will be able to make recurring appointments.  Inform your tutor that you would like to make recurring appointments, and the tutor will make those appointments.
