- Lifelong Learning
- There are many classes available in art, music, fitness, sports, computer, life skills, financial planning and personal growth. Schedule and fees vary. Suggested locations to seek these classes are libraries, churches, banks and community centers.
- Social and Recreational Opportunities
- Here are some opportunities for organized social activities, volunteer programs, camps and travel. Places to find social and recreational opportunities include Special Olympics, Community Centers and churches.
- Sports
- Some suggested community sports programs are Special Olympics, bowling leagues, community center sports programs, swim classes, YMCA and wheelchair basketball.
- Day Support
- Structured activities designed for adults with disabilities who are unable or do not choose paid employment. Day support programs provide meaningful environments that encourage community integration. These programs are generally for individuals with moderate to severe mental, physical or emotional disabilities. Your search can begin with adult centers, R-CAP, A Grace Place, and the ARC of Richmond.
- Support Groups
- Support groups consist of participants who meet to share experiences with others who have similar challenges. Examples: Autism support group, spinal injured support groups, ADHD support groups, etc.
