What is the Assistive Technology Network?
The VCU TechNET was formed in 1995 to support professionals in schools, educational programs and interagency coordinating councils in Virginia's Superintendent's Regions 1 and 8 in developing program policies needed to support the use of assistive technology (AT), forming assistive technology teams to implement AT services and learn about innovative practices in assistive technology.
What services are provided to TechNET members?

Workshops and hands-on computer labs with a focus on using effective practices in AT, using AT provide access to the general curriculum and learning about cutting edge technology
- Support to local assistive technology teams in the areas of team development and the development and implementation of school-wide or division-wide AT plans

TechNET newsletters and frequent electronic communication to help members stay abreast of new information, legislative changes and resources in assistive technology
- AT labs located at the T/TAC offices at Richmond and Blackstone contain computer hardware, software, switches, switch activated toys and leisure items, AT materials to support reading, writing and math, augmentative and alternative communication devices and materials, and informational resources for checkout
- TechKnowledgy: an annual assistive technology conference developed collaboratively with the Hospital Education Program at Children's Hospital in Richmond and the VDOE's T/TAC's at JMU and ODU
- Assistive Technology information and links on the VDOE T/TAC at VCU web site
- T/TAC Online: a Web site sponsored by the Virginia Department of Education using an innovative approach to distance education
- List of TechNet members for the purpose of networking and resource sharing
