Serine hydroxymethyltransferase dimer with bound folate cofactor

Molecule Structure

Tetrameric rabbit serine hydroxymethylase catalyzes the interconversion of serine and glycine with formation of one carbon metabolic groups. The enzyme mechanism requires pyridoxal phosphate and folate cofactors (shown in pink).
