Gina Adler
Gina Adler is Richmond native who attended Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg, VA. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in French during the spring of 2004, and returned to Richmond. Her interests in sports began at an early age; she always loved being outside playing sports with the neighborhood children. Her competitive sports career began at the Governor’s School in Richmond, where she first learned to play field hockey. She continued to play in college at R-MWC where she was a captain for her last two seasons, and received all conference awards in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Also during college, Gina began coaching youth field hockey at various summer camps and clinics. In 2005 she was hired as the Assistant Field Hockey Coach at R-MWC. After two seasons there, she decided to attend the VCU SportsCenter graduate program. She hopes to gain an understanding of all aspects and complexities of athletics. After graduation, Gina plans to pursue her coaching career in a collegiate setting.

Brandon Baker
Brandon Baker is a May 2007 cum laude graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Recreation, Parks, and Sports Management. He is currently a full-time student at the VCU SportsCenter and hopes to complete his degree in May 2008 and move on to work with an professional sports franchise. Brandon has a background in event and conference planning, basketball coaching, and summer camp operations. He has had several leadership roles during his undergraduate career, including creating and running events/ competitions, creating and implementing budgets for many programs, and working with the VCU club sports of basketball and golf to generate membership. Brandon's career goal is to become a General Manager of an NFL or NBA franchise.

Brian Biggio
Brian Biggio is from Bedford, Virginia. He comes to the VCU SportsCenter as a graduate of Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia. Brian studied sociology at Lynchburg College and also played for the men’s soccer team. He was a member of Alpha Kappa Delta (Sociology Honor Society), and enjoyed several semesters on the Lynchburg College Dean’s List. Brian’s mission here at the VCU SportsCenter is to construct his own theories of leadership and coaching. Further, he wishes to build relationships here at the VCU SportsCenter and gain practical experience for his future in the sports industry. Brian would like to become a collegiate level soccer coach or build his own soccer academy.

Keith Brown
Keith Brown is from Milford, a small town located minutes from Delaware’s beautiful beaches. Keith came to the SportsCenter in the fall semester of 2007 after attending Lynchburg College, a private liberal arts school in central Virginia, where he graduated with a B.A. in Sports Management. During his tenure at Lynchburg, Keith played 4 years for the men’s soccer team. He helped Lynchburg College win their conference championship and make an appearance in the national tournament. Keith also completed an internship at the Jamerson YMCA as the Assistant Youth Sports Director. He hopes to acquire a management position with a Division I University or a professional sports organization.

Kristen Brown
Kristen Brown entered the VCU SportsCenter in the spring of 2008, and is a native of Richmond, Virginia. She received her B.A. in Communication from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, with a minor in Marketing/Event Planning. During her time at Virginia Tech, she worked with student athlete support services and was a reporter for Virginia Tech Television’s Tech Total Access sport show. She has an interest in Sports broadcast journalism and sports marketing. Upon graduation, she hopes to acquire a position as the Media Relations Director for an NFL or NBA team.

Beth Crocus
Beth Crocus began attending the VCU SportsCenter program in the fall of 2007. She is originally from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania but has been living in Richmond, Virginia, the past 5 years. Beth graduated from the University of Richmond in May 2007 with a degree in Rhetoric and Communication Study and a minor in Studio Art. During undergrad, Beth was a member of the track and field team and specialized in the throwing events. Her academic, athletic and leadership qualities were rewarded when the University of Richmond’s athletic department named Beth the Senior Student Athlete of the Year. Beth is currently working part-time at the University of Richmond as the Summer Camps and Conferences Coordinator. She is also an assistant track coach for Collegiate High School. With a passion for athletics and helping others achieve their goals, she could see herself as a high school Athletic Director. Beth strives for a career in which she is constantly involved with athletics and the community because she is very personable, motivated and enjoys every aspect of communication. Beth plans on using the experiences and opportunities provided by the VCU SportsCenter to further her knowledge on Sports Administration.

Kwan Evans
Kwan Evans is a recent graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a B.S. in Sports Management. The degree has assisted Kwan in areas of sports including, but not limited to coaching, teaching, and communication. Because of his athletic background, Kwan wants to remain in the world of sports following his baseball playing career, which is one of the main reasons he is furthering his education in graduate school. Currently enrolled in the SportsCenter, Kwan is eager to learn more about the professional side of sports to go along with the athletic side he already has. Kwan wants to use his own personal knowledge of the game of baseball, and teach young kids as a coach. He feels that there aren’t enough quality coaches for young players, so he wants to assist them. Ultimately, Kwan’s professional goal is to work in the front office of a professional franchise. The job of a general manager is attractive to Kwan because he enjoys the pursuit of finding players, coaches, and executives, and bringing them all together to develop a successful organization.
An athlete all his life, Kwan went on to play baseball at VCU and is now playing out his last year of eligibility. In three years of action Kwan has been a three-year letterman, while helping lead the Rams to two CAA conference championships. In 2005 he was named to the All-Rookie team, and was Player of the Week three times (2/22, 3/1, 5/2). That year Kwan was a contributor to VCU’s title run and bid to a Regional Championship in Miami, FL. For a second year in a row, the Rams reached the championship game of the CAA tournament, but it wasn’t until 2007 that Kwan and the Rams baseball program won another championship. Kwan hopes to follow his dreams and one day play baseball at the professional level.

Andy Farrell
Andrew Farrell is in his first semester at the VCU SportsCenter and is a native of Dayton, Ohio. A magna cum laude graduate from the University of Dayton, Andrew majored in both Finance and Business Economics. While attending the University of Dayton, he was the head student assistant for the men’s basketball team for all fours years under Coach Brian Gregory. Currently, his two brothers (Eric, 23 and Matt, 24) both work for the men’s basketball program at the University of Dayton. Andrew now works with the men’s basketball team as a Graduate Assistant here at VCU under Coach Anthony Grant. Andrew’s involvement with athletics at the college level has shown him what he wants to do: be a men’s college basketball coach. Over the next years, he will be trying to work his way up the college coaching ranks and learn as much as possible so that some day he can be a successful head men’s college basketball coach..

Ashley Friend
Ashley Friend grew up in Canandaigua, New York. She attended high school at Canandaigua Academy and completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Richmond. During her four years at Richmond, Ashley played on the lacrosse team and was a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Council. Additionally, she worked at the University of Richmond Speech Center helping undergraduate students improve their public speaking and presentation skills. Ashley majored in Rhetoric and Communication Studies and minored in Spanish. Such accomplishments earned her the University of Richmond “Spider Student-Athlete of the Year” award this past spring. Ashley began her graduate school career at the SportsCenter in August 2007. She is an intern at the VCU Ticket Office and hopes to use the many experiences the department provides as a foundation for her future in sports administration..

Jess Gofgosky
Jessica Gofgosky grew up in Marathon, New York and attended Marathon Central High School where she lettered in field hockey, basketball, and softball. She was a two-time National All-American field hockey player. Her sport experience continued through college at The Ohio State University. She was a four-year member of the varsity field hockey team, and two year captain. Her team set program records in NCAA tournament appearances and an outright Big 10 Championship. She was named to the Buckeye Power Club by the strength and conditioning staff two consecutive years. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Sport Leadership and Sport Humanities. In May of 2007 she was honored by faculty members with a Professionalism Award for the College of Human Ecology and Education. While attending The Ohio State University she coached the Futures program, and various summer camps throughout the United States. She served three years as a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Board. She volunteered on a consistent basis to establish a link with student athletes and society. Her internship experience included an internship with a private high school in Columbus, Ohio and an internship-turned-employment at Ohio Sports Plus Training Academy in Worthington, Ohio. Her responsibilities included: co-league coordinator of youth basketball leagues, maintenance of clientele database, and various marketing aspects. She hopes the SportCenter program will influence her overall career choice. She aspires to become a coach, athletic administrator, or professional sport executive. .

Glenn Gray
Glenn Gray enters his first semester in the VCU SportsCenter program this Fall. A native of Culpeper, VA, Gray graduated from the University of Mary Washington in May of 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. At Mary Washington, Gray played for the men’s soccer team where he was a two-year captain, four-year starter, and two-time CAC All-Conference selection for the Eagles. As a senior, he was selected to the VaSID All-State, NSCAA All- South Region, and D3kicks.com All-South Region teams. Along with working towards his Master’s Degree in Sport Leadership from VCU SportsCenter, Gray also serves as the graduate assistant coach for the VCU men’s soccer team.
Gray has completed internships with the Washington Nationals and Edward Jones Investments. He has extensive experience coaching soccer at the youth level and hopes to someday be a head coach at a NCAA Division 1 soccer program. Gray’s other career interests are working with a professional sports organization or sports agency.

Daniel Hamlet
Daniel Hamlet came to the VCU Sports Center in the fall of 2006. Daniel graduated with a bachelor’s of science in Sports Management from Virginia State University. While attending Virginia State, Daniel played to two years of college football and ran one year of track for the VSU Trojans. While majoring in Sports Management at VSU Daniel worked with his classmates to began the first Sports Management club on campus which took a year after completing his course work to become successful. During his days on The Hill he worked as a Resident Assistant in Barrett-Jackson Hall and as a liaison for Special Olympics at Virginia State coordinating student volunteers. While doing this he maintained a 3.1 grade point average.
Daniel is now in his second year at the SportsCenter, electing to take distance learning courses his first year to work full time. Now Daniel is finishing his course work on campus to get the best experience that he can while in graduate school. During his first year at the Sports Center Daniel worked as an assistant coach at Prince George High school coaching football and outdoor track. He also worked for the City of Richmond Parks and Recreation Program after school program. Daniel is seeking to gain more knowledge and experience in the field of sports leadership. Daniel is now coaching a little league football in Chesterfield Virginia and working an internship at the University of Virginia working for Virginia Sports Properties.

Carlton Harris
Carlton Harris is a native of Ettrick, Virginia, where he attended Matoaca High School. Carlton was a track and field and football standout at Matoaca. He received 1st Team All Southside District and 2nd Team All Central Region honors as a Wide Receiver. Carlton was a two time regional champion and placed third in the state as the lead leg on the 1600m and 800m relays. He still holds multiple track and field records at Matoaca High School.
Carlton is a 2007 graduate of Virginia State University. He served as the Media Relations Specialist for the HPERD/Sport Management Majors Club. He is currently the Offensive Coordinator for Marguerite Christian Athletic Association senior football team. Carlton also works with the Rudi Johnson Foundation, Ken Oxendine Youth Football Camp, and the Special Olympics.
Carlton hopes to work in professional sports and entertainment, with dreams of running a Sports Entertainment Company.

Jordan Hartt
Jordan Hartt enrolled in the VCU Sports Center in the fall of 2007. She grew up in Richmond, VA and attended Douglas Freeman High School. Jordan played varsity softball and was also a cheerleader throughout her high school career. Jordan graduated in 2006 from Clemson University with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing as well as a minor in Spanish. During her college years, she completed a 6-month internship with the Washington Wizards during the 2005 season. Currently Jordan is a graduate assistant for VCU Athletics and is working with the Marketing/Promotions office. Jordan is interested in pursuing a career in the sports marketing industry.

LaTriece Haskins
LaTriece Haskins is a Richmond native and a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Athletic Training Education Program. She is currently employed by CJW Sports Medicine as a Physical Therapy Technician.
Upon completion of the SportCenter Sport Leadership Program, she plans to be an athletic director at a collegiate institution. Her ultimate goal is to open her own gym..

Karolin Heinz
Karolin was born 1984 in Suhl, Germany. She attended high school from 1995 until 2003. After graduation, Karolin enrolled in the University of Munich, where she majored in Sports Science with a specialization on prevention/rehabilitation. She received her bachelor’s degree in 2007. During her undergraduate career, Karolin worked in a fitness center as a fitness-instructor and as a personal trainer. She was responsible for women’s training programs and composition of personal exercise programs. Karolin joined the SportsCenter in August 2007 as a transfer student-athlete while playing volleyball for the VCU Rams volleyball team. She began her volleyball career when she was 9 years old and her volleyball top career was competing in the second national league of Germany for 6 years. She is experienced in sports medicine and rehabilitation. Karolin’s interest lies in event planning and developing health and nutrition concepts for employees in national or international corporations..

Ryan Horn
Ryan is in his first year as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for VCU. He is directly responsible for program design and implementation for men and women’s track and field, women’s cross country, and field hockey. Prior to coming to VCU, Ryan played football at James Madison University from 2003-2005 and was an Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach at Robert Morris University. In May 2007 Ryan graduated from Shepherd University with a bachelors degree in Exercise Science. Ryan and his wife, Ashley, have a son named Landon and currently reside in the Richmond area..

Evan Ibbitson
Evan has worked as an Intramural Supervisor at his undergraduate institution of Lynchburg College and graduated in May of 2007 with a degree in Sport Management. He was the Intramural Supervisor for three years and had nearly fifty employees work under him during that time. Evan went to many lectures and presentations and heard talks of sports concepts, controversies, and opinions during this time, including attending the NIRSA (National Intramural Recreational Sports Association) Conference in Orlando, Florida.
Evan had the distinct opportunity to complete an internship in the summer of 2006 with the Philadelphia 76ers. He was an intern in the community relations department and worked within the 76ers community with the Summer Hoops Tour, Read to Achieve, and other programs.
Evan hopes to work in professional sports. One day, it is his goal to be the general manager of a professional sports team, preferably MLB or NFL. Evan has a great interest and knowledge of professional sports and always will have an undying love for it.

Billy Jones
Billy Jones was born in Richmond, Virginia. He grew up in Chesterfield County, Virginia, where he actively participated in baseball, basketball, and soccer as a youth. Billy attended Clover Hill High School playing baseball for the Cavaliers. Billy was a member of the 1994 AAA Virginia State Baseball Champions (26-1), where his high school was ranked 7th nationally by USA Today. He would earn 2nd team All Dominion District honors at third base as a senior. While attending college, he continued to coach baseball, football, and girl’s basketball at Clover Hill High School.
As the Varsity Assistant Baseball Coach at Clover Hill, Billy would help lead the Cavaliers to two Dominion District titles, nine post-season appearances, and 145 wins. He has coached two players that have been drafted by Major League Organizations. In 1998, Billy served as an Assistant Coach for American Legion Midlothian Post 186. The following year, he would take over as the Head Coach of Midlothian for the 1999 & 2000 season..
While coaching three sports, Jones would go on to receive his B.S. degree in Physical Education from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2003. After college, he would go on to teach high school Health & Physical Education for three years. Jones is currently attending Virginia Commonwealth University where he is working to obtain his master’s degree in Sport Leadership. Billy wants to be a baseball coach at the collegiate or professional level in the future.

Justin Kelly
Justin Kelly is a graduate student in the SportsCenter at Virginia Commonwealth University. He is from Colonial Heights, VA, which is located 20 miles south of Richmond. Justin attended Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, VA for the previous four years. He received a B.A. in Sports Management. While at Lynchburg, he was a 4-year letter winner on the baseball team and was a co-captain this past spring.
He has been involved with sports since he could walk on his own power. Justin has a twin brother named Jason who also attended LC and played baseball as well. For their last two seasons, Justin was the starting catcher while Jason was the anchor on the pitching staff. Growing up, he played baseball, football, basketball, golf, and spent a lot of time fishing. Once in high school, Justin narrowed his sports of choice to baseball and golf. The two things he really enjoys now are golfing and fishing.
While at Lynchburg, Justin did an internship with the recreation department in Colonial Heights. During his internship, he did a wide variety of things to help the department run well and these daily activities left him with an understanding of what it takes to work in the rec. parks side of the sport industry.
Since sports have always been a part of Justin’s life and always will, he chose to pursue a career in the sport industry. Justin’s interests in the world of sport cover a broad range and they are professional sports and recreational athletics. Justin’s goal is to find a job that fits his lifestyle and one that he can look forward to doing each day.

Chuck Liddiard
Chuck Liddiard entered the SportsCenter in the spring of 2007 after completing his bachelor’s degree in Sport Management at Virginia Commonwealth University. Chuck was born in Toole, Utah, but moved to Washington D.C. in the late 80’s. After graduating high school, Chuck spent 3 years at Southern Utah University, before transferring to VCU. Having a love for basketball, Chuck has served as an assistant coach to both men’s and women’s varsity squads at Walsingham Academy, a Williamsburg-area Catholic school for the past six years. Chuck currently serves as the graduate assistant for the Facility/Event Management Department at VCU Athletics and the Siegel Center. After graduation, he hopes to pursue a career as a high school Athletic Director..

Mitchell Moore
Mitchell Moore is a graduate student at Virginia Commonwealth University currently pursuing a master’s degree in Sport Leadership from the SportsCenter. Moore plans on pursuing a career in media relations in the area of collegiate or professional athletics.
A native of Seaford, Virginia, Moore is currently serving a communications internship with the Colonial Athletic Association, where he has been involved with various sports information duties since November 2006. Specific duties include serving as the women’s lacrosse and field hockey contacts, updating the conference’s website on a daily basis, working championship events, assisting with the completion of publications and maintaining conference records.
Prior to joining the CAA, Moore has served as the Director of Media Relations for the Peninsula Pilots, a summer collegiate baseball team in Hampton, Virginia, for six years. He has coordinated the team’s media relations department, producing all organizational publications, serving as the play-by-play radio announcer, maintaining the team’s website, as well as acting as a liaison between the team and the league’s various media outlets. In addition to his media duties, Moore assisted in the areas of marketing and player personnel, and in June 2005, he also served as Assistant General Manager.
Moore received his undergraduate degree from VCU where he majored in Mass Communications with a focus in public relations. While working on his four-year undergraduate degree, Moore served as a student assistant in VCU Athletic Communications, where he assisted in various aspects of sports information, which also included baseball and basketball game day operations.

Shannon Morgan
Shannon Morgan, originally from Tacoma, Washington, but raised in Bedford County, Virginia is a second semester student at the VCU SportsCenter. She decided she wanted to pursue a Master’s Degree at the SportsCenter when she received her B.S. in Recreation, Parks and Sports Management from VCU. With an expected graduation of December 2008, Shannon is enjoying her first full-time semester with the program. Upon receiving her degree, she would like to get involved with the business aspect of sports, as well as earn a real estate license.

Tomas Polak
Tomas Polak is a current full time graduate student at Virginia Commonwealth University, majoring in Sport Leadership with a focus on Basketball Coaching Studies. He received his Bachelor’s degree with honors in Physical Education & Basketball Coaching from Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. Tomas played basketball in one of the most successful basketball clubs in Czech republic’s history. For more than 10 years, he was a playing at the highest level of competitive basketball junior league. He was also a member of the Czech Republic national cadet basketball team in 2000. In 2006, he turned from a basketball playing career to coaching career for which he was selected - because of his potential - by former excellent European basketball player and current men’s basketball junior team head coach, Josef Jelinek, to be his first assistant coach. Together they coached players in the highest junior basketball league in the Czech republic. Tomas is very interested in basketball coaching, which led him to broaden his knowledge by coming to Virginia Commonwealth University in August 2007. He believes in the connection between American and European philosophies of coaching and he is certain that both techniques make for ideal coaching methods. His future goals are to be an excellent basketball coach with a good personality. His dream is to coach one of the best European professional teams. Tomas claims there is no life without love, human smile, music, sport and comprehension.

Monique Rose
Monique Rose entered the SportsCenter graduate program in the fall of 2007. She is a native of Sussex, VA, where she attended Sussex Central High School and played softball and was a member of the marching band for four years. While in the marching band she served as co-captain of the flag squad her sophomore year and captain her junior and senior year. She went on to further her education at Virginia Commonwealth University where she received a BS in Accounting in May 2003.
Monique currently works at the VCU Siegel Center handling all fiscal matters for the athletic facilities at VCU. She plans on staying in the facility management area. She is also a member of IAAM (International Association for Assembly Managers).

Brad Schoonmaker
Brad Schoonmaker is from Southington, Connecticut. He completed his undergraduate studies with a degree in Business Administration from Suffolk University in Boston, MA. At Suffolk Brad was a member of the basketball team for all of his four years, and he was the captain in his final season. Also, while at Suffolk Brad, served as the Vice President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee where he helped raise funds for the athletic department. Brad has spent recent summers working for the Boston Celtics Youth Basktetball Program working with children to teach them the fundamentals of basketball. He has come to the VCU SportsCenter to grow as a leader and gain the knowledge necessary to pursue a career coaching basketball at the collegiate level..

Austin Shaver
Austin Shaver is in his first year with the VCU SportsCenter program. He is a native of Hampden-Sydney, Virginia and his family now resides in Williamsburg. Austin attended the University of Virginia for his undergraduate studies and graduated in 2007 with a degree in psychology. While in college he was an assistant basketball coach at the Miller School in Charlottesville and also coached an AAU team in the Charlottesville area. Austin is currently working with the men’s basketball team at VCU as a graduate assistant and plans to become a college basketball coach.

Jade Sims
Jade Sims came to the SportsCenter in the fall of 2007. She is originally from Seattle, WA but has been residing in Virginia for the last eight years. She attended Norfolk State University and graduated in 2004 with a bachelor’s of arts in Political Science Pre-Law. She received a Paralegal certificate at Old Dominion University in August of 2004. She served as a camp counselor and camp coordinator for the National Youth Sports Program for over four years and helps coach a local girl’s basketball team. She enjoys working with children and hopes to pursue a career in sports marketing upon graduation.

Greg Smith
Greg Smith has a B.A. in Sport Management from Lynchburg College located in Lynchburg Virginia, which is only 30 minutes from his home town in beautiful Bedford Virginia. Greg decided to come to the SportsCenter after hearing about the one year accelerated program that it offers. Greg fills his free time coaching with the Richmond Kickers and also with the VYSA ODP (Olympic Development Program) soccer program. Greg hopes to eventually coach at the collegiate level or possibly run his own soccer complex..

Lenka Stejskalova
Lenka Stejskalova was born in communist Czechoslovakia in 1983 and witnessed the country’s economic, political, and social transformation from a communist regime to a fully competitive country with a free market economy. She has also experienced how sport industry has changed over past 20 years with a great influence from western countries, the United States specifically.
Realizing the significance of academic preparation, she enrolled in the VCU SportsCenter program in Sport Leadership in August 2007 to deepen her foundation in sports marketing, which was formed during her undergraduate studies at Thomas Bata University, Czech Republic and Virginia Union University in Richmond, VA.
During her study in the United States, Lenka interned as a tennis instructor in the program for inner city children organized by the City of Richmond, Parks and Recreation for three consecutive summers. This experience enabled Lenka to improve her communication, leadership, and team-working skills, as she had to organize teaching classes and final festival, which was always successfully executed at the end of the program.

Ben Thompson
Ben Thompson is a May 2007 graduate of VCU and holds a B.S. degree in Sport Management. He is currently the Special Assistant to the Athletic Director at Saint Gertrude’s High School in Richmond, VA. Ben is also an Assistant Boys Varsity Basketball Coach at The Steward School in Richmond, VA. Last spring he worked as a sales & marketing intern with the Richmond Kickers of the United Soccer Leagues. Ben was the Head Boys JV Basketball Coach at The New Community School in 06-07. He also coached the Boys Middle School team in 05-06 and assisted with Team Richmond’s Boys U-14 AAU team in the summer of 2005. Ben has also worked several summer basketball camps over the past three years in Henrico County, Virginia, including working with former NBA player Johnny Newman in the summer of 2007.

Alan Wheeling
Alan Wheeling entered VCU’s SportsCenter in 2007 after graduating from The College of William and Mary. Alan served as the team captain for the Tribe’s football team his senior year and graduated with a B.S. in psychology and with a kinesiology minor. During his time at W&M, Alan was a member of the Student Athletic Advisory Council (SAAC) and interned in the facilities and operations office for the athletic department.
