University Records and Registration is responsible for registering students for classes and recording their academic achievements so that the credit they earn at VCU becomes part of a permanent record available for certifying their degrees, applying for employment and gaining admittance to higher education programs.

Registration

After initial registration at STAR or the Student Services Centers, students are encouraged to register for classes online. Students also may add, drop or withdraw from classes online at iserver.adm.vcu.edu/students. For correct deadlines, refer to the Academic Year Calendar on pages 81-82 or online at www.vcu.edu/academiccalendars/. eServices hours are 7 a.m. – midnight, Monday – Friday; 7 a.m. – 9 p.m., Saturday; and noon – midnight, Sunday. Students should consult their academic advisors on course restrictions and degree requirements. Students registering for MCV Campus courses may do so in person at the Sanger Hall Student Services Center.

Class Schedules

University Records and Registration schedules all VCU classes and publishes the schedule for all terms. Class schedules are available on the VCU Web at www.vcu.edu/schedule.

Transcripts

Transcripts for VCU students are maintained by Records and Registration. Unofficial Transcripts are available online, and Official Transcripts may be requested by downloading the Transcript Request Form at www.vcu.edu/enroll/ssc/transcrip.pdf. The form must be signed and mailed as signatures are required for the release of transcripts.

VCU provides the first three official transcripts requested by a student at no charge; thereafter, the charge is $5 per official transcript. The fee is payable by check or money order made out to VCU. Cash will not be accepted. Transcript requests are processed within five days of receipt, except during peak periods at the beginning and end of each term.

Residency

The Residency Office of University Records and Registration determines eligibility for in-state tuition benefits. Questions related to your status as a Virginia resident for tuition purposes should be directed to the Residency Officer.

Graduation and Commencement

The Graduation Office of University Records and Registration is responsible for certifying degrees, assisting the President’s Office with preparation of the printed program, diplomas and special accommodations at the ceremony.
