Hello and welcome to our online course! This course is made up of several
sessions. Each session consists of 4-7 topical headings or sections. Within these topical areas, you will find sub-topics. Session 1 will introduce you to using the computer and the Internet/World Wide Web. Subsequent sessions will address specific
content associated with the course topic.
As you take this course, we would like you to keep a few items in mind:
- The very first page of each session is the contents page. It is the anchor page that organizes the session and contains links to session topics, learning objectives, our interactive software, email and evaluation, etc.
- Underlined words are links to more information, by clicking on links you move through the session content.
- Use the navigational cues to help you move through each session: for example note the text headers topic 1 of 6. These cues will help you know where you are in the session.
- Use the back button located on your browser tool bar to revisit a page. If you get lost, or just want to return to the beginning, click on the back to contents link at the bottom of a page.
- Remember, the links at the bottom of a page provide guidance in terms of your navigation options. You may also print each page (click on each page before printing). It may take a little time to print, and make sure you get all of the links. You may like to hole punch the pages and put the course into a notebook for reference purposes.
- Each session will be open for two weeks. Once the next session is open you can move on. Previous sessions will remain open if you would like to revisit them.
- The course will be available on-line for about one month after the final date of the final session.
We hope this course is helpful and that you also enjoy the format. Please don't hesitate to call or e-mail me at ajarm@vcu.org if you have any questions.
Note: If you are working on a PC, hitting the browser back button may take you back to the opening page. The solution to this is to hold down the right button on your mouse until a small menu with the back option pops up beside your pointer. This back will return you to the previous frame.
