Insurance and Risk Management

Real Estate and Insurance Services (REIS) is responsible for the University’s risk management program through the effective use of the Commonwealth of Virginia’s self-funded insurance plans, commercial insurance providers, management of claims and support of a safe environment for employees, students and visitors.  To achieve these goals requires that REIS maintain schedules of exposure, develop insurance policy specifications, place adequate insurance coverage, manage claims, and advise the VCU Board of Visitors and management on risk management issues.  REIS is also responsible for the University-related foundation’s and Virginia Biotechnology Research Park’s risk management programs.  REIS assists the VCU Health System with liability claims.
