runningThe Clinical Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing Laboratory

The Clinical Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing Laboratory is located within the General Clinical Research Center at Virginia Commonwealth University. The lab contains two SensorMedics ventilatory-expired gas systems, a Cardiosoft 12-lead ECG system, a fully automated Tango exercise blood pressure system and SensorMedics treadmill and lower extremity ergometer. 

This lab (approximately 200 square feet) is supported by General Clinical Research Center (staff and emergency equipment) and has an affiliation with physicians in the VCU School of Medicine’s Department of Cardiology.

The Clinical Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing Laboratory is presently involved in:

  • Assessing the prognostic value of cardiopulmonary exercise testing in the heart failure population.
  • Assessing the impact of aerobic exercise training in females undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer.
