Thomas Mayhew, Ph.D., PT, Chairman, Associate Professor
Dr. Mayhew joined the faculty at VCU in 1989. He was previously in private practice as well as a lecturer in the PhysicalThomas Mayhew, Ph.D., PT, Associate Professor Therapy program at Washington University in St. Louis, teaching in the Neuroanatomy and Gross Anatomy. Dr. Mayhew currently teaches the Gross Anatomy course at VCU. He also lectures in other courses on topics related to motor unit morphology and skeletal muscle mutability. He has also taught Neuroanatomy and Prosthetics & Orthotics at VCU.

Dr. Mayhew's research interests are in the measurement of muscle performance and function in pediatric and adult patients with neuromuscular disease. He is currently working with cooperative multicenter groups performing controlled clinical drug trials with Duchenne muscular dystrophy and spinal muscular atrophy patients.
