Prosthetic Limb Drive was held on June 7, 2008
VCU DPT students in conjunction with Hanger Prosthetics and Orthotics and At Home Care Therapy held the 4th Annual Limb Drive on June 7, 2008 at the Richmond Braves Stadium.
The prosthetic devices were broken down into component parts to be shipped to Physicians for Peace, who disseminate them throughout developing countries. Used prosthetic devices were dropped off in the parking lot at the Braves Stadium on June 7, between 1-4 p.m. Please contact the VCU Department of Physical Therapy with further questions or to arrange a different drop-off time at (804) 828-0234.

Reunion weekend 2008
More than 1,200 MCV Campus alumni returned to Richmond in April 2008 to celebrate reunion milestones. Eight of the physical therapy alumni from 1958, and some husbands, participated in campus tours, which included the old surgical amphitheatre in South hospital and the newly remodeled department in West hospital. They also enjoyed a class dinner at Salisbury Country Club and champagne breakfast to fortify their 50-year pin.

Department charity golf tournament was held on April 4, 2008
The 2008 VCU Department of Physical Therapy golf tournament was held at Brookwoods Golf Course in New Kent, Va. on Friday, April 4, 2008.
This tournament is part of an annual nationwide competition among physical therapy students to raise money for the Foundation for Physical Therapy, the principle funding agency for physical therapy research. Schools that raise the highest amounts are recognized each year at the American Physical Therapy Association’s Annual Meeting. VCU has been recognized every year we have participated.

Department alumnae assist survivors of Virginia Tech Tragedy 2007
Alumnae Catie Davis ’97 MS/PT and Amy (Odom) Rathmann ’06 DPT provided physical therapy services to the victims of the shooting at Virginia Tech who were treated at Montgomery Regional Hospital. Prospective DPT Student Open House
The VCU Department of Physical Therapy will now be offering two open houses a month for prospective students. The purpose of these sessions is to answer questions about the DPT program and the admissions process. Prior to scheduling a session, please take a look at our information regarding the DPT program and our admissions process at DPT program. The Open Houses will be held on alternate Mondays or Fridays and will consist of an information session with the department chair or admissions chair and a tour of the department. Please call the department for dates and times and to schedule an appointment.

The MCV Alumni Association of VCU held a reunion on April 22, 2006, at the Omni Hotel in Richmond, Va. Alumni visited with each other and faculty from the Department of Physical Therapy and also toured the department in West Hospital. They spent the day reminiscing about their days at the school.
