The Department of Psychiatry offers a wide variety of educaitonal
programs. Programs include:
- Pre-Doctoral Clinical Child Psychology Internship
The internship program of Virginia Treatment Center for
Children (VTCC) is fully accredited by The American Psychological
Association Committee on Accreditation. The program is designed
to provide training in the full continuum of care required
to treat children and adolescents with serious emotional
disturbances. VTCC's program includes two tracks: the Hospital
Track and the Community Track. Both tracks expose the intern
to the full continuum of child mental health. Four funded
positions are available beginning July 1 and ending June
30th. MORE
- Post-Doctoral Child Psychology Fellowship
In addition to an APA-approved pre-doctoral internship,
postdoctoral fellowships have been in place at VTCC for
over a decade. There are currently two fully funded fellowship
positions. Each fellowship position is a one-year experience
designed to promote the professional development of child
clinical psychologists. The training year provides fellows
with intensive clinical and supervisory experiences across
the continuum of mental health services for children, adolescents
and families. Please see the January APA Monitor for further
information about VTCC's post-doctoral fellowship positions.
Applicants with sign language skills are encouraged to apply
for this position. Deadline for applying to the post-doctoral
fellowship program is February 15th of each year. MORE
- Post-Doctoral Clinical Health Psychology
The VCU Health System Postdoctoral Training Program in Clinical
Health Psychology was developed to provide advanced specialty
training to graduates of APA accredited doctoral programs
and internships in professional psychology. Fellows are
selected for excellence in generalist mental health background
as well as for knowledge and experience in health psychology
in either or both research and clinical service. The program
prepares fellows for careers as clinical health psychology
specialists, recognizing the important role that clinical
practitioners have to play in informing and shaping relevant
clinical research. MORE
- Practicum in Clinical Health Psychology
