The geropsychiatric program at the Medical College of Virginia extends to the 500-bed Hunter Holmes McGuire Veteran Affairs Medical Center and Piedmont Geriatric Hospital, a state- supported 210-bed institution caring exclusively for patients over 65 years of age with psychiatric illnesses. Rotations for the one year fellowship extend to these three hospitals. 6 months are spent rotating at Piedmont Geriatric Hospital and the remaining 6 months at VCUHS and the Hunter Holmes McGuire Veteran Affairs Medical Center. The program has a modest research focus.

Specific rotations include dementia clinic, nursing homes, geropsychiatric state hospital, university hospital/clinic geropsychiatry, palliative care, pain management and neuroimaging.

To be considered for these positions, please forward your CV, proof of USMLE completion and 4 letters of recommendation (one should be from your residency program director).
