- The Psychiatry Residency was first accredited in 1954
and has been an education leader for more than 40 years.
- Dr. Joel Silverman was appointed to the national Psychiatry
Residency Review Committee of the ACGME in 1997. He is a
former Chair of the American Association of Chairs of Departments
of Psychiatry.
- Dr. Bela Sood was appointed to the national Psychiatry
Residency Review Committee of the ACGME in 2003.
- Dr. Kenneth Kendler was elected to the Institute of Medicine
of the National Academy of Sciences in 1999. He is the editor
of Psychological Medicine.
- Dr. James Levenson was elected president of the Academy
of Psychosomatic Medicine in 1999. He is the editor of American
Psychiatric Publishing Textbook of Psychosomatic Medicine,
and Essentials of Psychosomatic Medicine and deputy editor
of the journal Psychosomatics.
- Dr. Roy Pickens joined us from the NIDA as Professor of
Psychiatry and Associate University Vice President of Research
in 1999.
- Dr. Susan Kornstein was recognized as a "pioneer" in gender
and psychopharmacology research in 2001. She is editor in
chief of The Journal of Women’s Health.
