Community Policing
The image of policing has changed in the 1990's. The reactive approach to policing has been replaced with a proactive, community based posture. The VCU Police Department has implimented a program designed to integrate the concepts of crime prevention, problem-solving and community involvement. Uniformed officers interact with the community in new ways. VCU Police also has expanded jurisdiction.

VCU Office of Community Policing
Located at 6th South Cherry Street, across from the Main Street parking deck, is the Academic Campus Office for Community Policing. Corporal Ervin Taylor may be reached in this office Monday thru Friday and welcomes all questions, comments, or concerns. You may call him at 828-4395.

Monroe Park Office
This satellite office is located in Monroe Park. Police officers with the VCU Police Department and Richmond Police Department utilize this office periodically. You may, at any time, come in for information, directions, or any other matter requiring assistance. If no officer is present, there is an Emergency Reporting Telephone (ERTS) outside of the building near the front steps.

Broad Street Housing Office
Located at the corner of Hancock and West Marshall Streets is our Office for Community Policing Officers, at the rear of the Broad Street Housing building. Dayshift Community Policing Officers Sabra Alexander, Corporal Edgar Greer; Evening Shift Officers William Wilkerson and James Deford; and Midnight Shift Officer David Cifers utilize this office during each respective shift. They may be reached by dialing 828-1999 or in person.

VCUHS Office of Community Policing
This satellite office is located in the Grant House, Room B-003. Corporal Rebecca Ellison may be reached in this office Monday thru Friday and welcomes all questions, comments, or concerns. You may call her at 828-8730.

VCU Police Crime-Prevention Specialists offer strategies to help the campus community stay safe and prevent crime. Call for information and presentations at 828-1214. The VCU Police Department provides a monthly publication entitled Campus Watch which is delivered to all VCU employees. Links to the present and past issues can be found below. A variety of Crime Prevention programs are available to the VCU community. These are also listed below.

Virginia State Police Sex Offender Registry
