Welcome to the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Virginia
Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. With more than 40 faculty
members and a department that ranks ninth in NIH funding for
pharmacology and toxicology programs, the department offers a rich and highly
interdisciplinary environment for research, teaching and graduate
program mission.
Since 1953, more than 220 scholars have earned their doctoral degrees
from our department, making it one of the oldest and largest graduate
programs of pharmacology and toxicology in the country. Nationally
recognized for research in alcohol and drug abuse, cancer pharmacology
and environmental toxicology, VCU’s Department of Pharmacology
and Toxicology places the highest priority on training graduate students
in diverse areas of study in a stimulating and interactive atmosphere.
I’ve been with the university for almost 30 years and can honestly say
that my colleagues and I are united in our goal to provide quality pharmacology
and toxicology teaching, training
and research to our students.
