The Child Life Team

Our staff consists of Child Life Specialists who hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree in child life, therapeutic recreation or psychology, and have specialized training to recognize and address the issues that surround hospitalized children and families. The staff is certified in either Child Life or Therapeutic Recreation, or both. We have four full-time and one part-time Child Life specialist.

We provide coverage for all pediatric patients at the Children's Medical Center, to include the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, general care units for infants/toddlers and preschoolers, and adolescents, and the Pediatric Same Day Suite. Child life specialists cover several outpatient clinics, including the Infectious Disease clinic, Pediatric Surgery clinic and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology clinic.

Our program is nonprofit, and Child Life services are provided seven days a week, 365 days a year.
