Admission criteria
The Pediatrics Residency Program accepts all applicants for appointments only through the Electronic Residency Application Service. Students can access ERAS through the Association of American Medical Colleges. The deadline for submission of all materials is Nov. 30 of each year. Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- All applicants must have graduated from an accredited medical school.
- All applicants must have passed Step I and II of the USMLE.
- International applicants must have ECFMG Certificate in addition to three months of clinical experience in a US hospital - observerships are not accepted.
- Must submit three letters of recommendation from US or Canadian physicians who have personal knowledge of applicant’s clinical abilities.
- All applicants must be within four years of graduation.
- Virginia Commonwealth University offers J-1 Visas only.
- Applications will be accepted through Dec.15.
Completed files are reviewed and invitations to interview are extended through ERAS. Interviews will be scheduled on selected Mondays and Fridays.
