their response to oxygen. Use a lung explant model to examine
the effect of oxygen on alveolar development and investigate
the role of NF-kB activation in the lung response to oxygen.
Clinical research interests include line sepsis, Phase II and
Phase III clinical trials and inflammatory mediators in premature
infants.

Preventable brain damage that occurs in newborn infants; specifically
the effects of excessive jaundice (hyperbilirubinemia) on the
developing nervous system. Research includes the effects of bilirubin
neurotoxicity on the auditory nervous system (NIH-funded), abnormal
muscle tone and movement in a model of kernicterus (NIH-funded),
and the evaluation and treatment of children with neurodevelopmental
disorders due to hyperbilirubinemia.
