Chief Residents

Chief residents for pediatrics are selected by the chairperson of the department and by the director of the Residency Training Program. Chief residents have considerable independence and importance in organizing the various pediatric services and teaching programs.

Major duties and responsibilities include:

* Providing consultation for pediatric problems on non-pediatric services and       for difficult and emergency problems on pediatric services.
* Teaching of students and residents.
* Assisting with organization of pediatric conferences and grand rounds.
* Developing resident rotations and call schedules.
* Serving as liaison between residents and faculty, the community, and other       services.
