Genetics Online Learning Modules
In order to provide children, adults, and families with information about their health it is important for all health care providers to have an appreciation for the role of family health history in health and disease, to have knowledge of credible resources related to family health history, and to know when to make a referral to a geneticist or genetic counselor. Under a LEND Genetics grant from AUCD, the VA-LEND has created a three-part series of free online learning modules to increase the understanding of family health history of health care professionals from a variety of disciplines, provide educational resources on genetics and newborn screening, and give examples of cases where genetics referrals can make a difference in the lives of children and their families. All modules are interactive with three cases in which the learner reaches different outcomes based on their decision path.
