VDOE Training and Technical Assistance Center (T/TAC) at VCU
Overview
The T/TAC is part of a statewide network which offers a variety of
services tailored to assist personnel in schools, interagency coordinating
councils and state-operated programs. Its primary purpose is to improve
educational opportunities and contribute to the success of children
and youth with disabilities (birth-22 years). The T/TAC at VCU serves
Superintendent's Regions 1 and 8. (Funded by the Virginia Department
of Education.)
Major Activities
- Provide long-term technical assistance to programs desiring to
create significant programmatic changes.
- Offer local in-service training and regional workshops that bring
noted speakers to address state-of-the-art topics.
- Publish the T/TAC newsletter, Innovations and Perspectives, three
times a year.
- Maintain a lending library of books, videotapes, assessment instruments,
and assistive and instructional technology.
- Conduct consultations by phone, e-mail, site visits and T/TAC based
visits to personnel in schools that are warned and Early Intervention/Education
programs.
