Abuse and Neglect of Children with Disabilities: A Collaborative
Response
A unique training opportunity for community partners serving children
with disabilities
WHO
Target audience includes all community professionals who serve children
with disabilities, and parent advocates for children with disabilities.
WHY
Children with disabilities are at much greater risk for
all forms of abuse and neglect. Investigation is more complicated in
these cases. Protection for these children depends on the collaboration
of well-informed professionals and parent advocates.

This unique 1-day training focuses on specific risk factors for, and
indicators of, abuse and neglect of children with disabilities. It promotes
collaboration by local professionals and parent advocates for children
with disabilities to protect these highly vulnerable children. Teams
of expert trainers from law enforcement, child protective services,
education, and parent advocates model interdisciplinary collaboration
and best practice.
