Infant and Toddler Connection of Richmond
Overview
The ITC of Richmond is the local early intervention system in the
city of Richmond. Virginia Commonwealth University, through the Partnership,
serves as the local lead agency for implementation of the Part C program
for infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families who live
in Richmond. The Partnership has coordinated early intervention services
in Richmond since 1985. (Funded by the U.S. Department of Education,
Office of Special Education Programs, through the Virginia Department
of Mental Health, Mental Retardation, and Substance Abuse Services.)
Major Activities
- Implementing comprehensive, family-centered early intervention services
through partnerships with families, public agencies, and local public
and private service providers
- Working with families to identify ways to improve practices and
to identify strategies for reaching potentially eligible children
- Administering funding for needed services
- Providing service coordination services for eligible infants and
toddlers and their families
- Operating the central point of entry (including answering phone
calls from families seeking services for their young children and
from primary referral sources making referrals)
- Coordinating service delivery systems for enrolled infants and toddlers
that uses the resources of public and private providers in the area
- Maintaining and reporting accurate service delivery data to the
state Part C office
- Monitoring compliance to meet state and federal outcome indicators
