SYNERGY Summer Internship in Genetic Counseling and Disabilities

The SYNERGY Summer Internship Program is an 8-week internship at Virginia Commonwealth University. The program is designed for undergraduate students from Virginia State University and Virginia Union University to learn about the field of genetic counseling, childhood disabilities, and careers in health care. During the summer months, interns participate in weekly clinics, discussion forums, and professional skills workshops. They work with a graduate student mentor, keep a journal about their experiences, and complete a project related to the field of genetics. This is an exciting growth opportunity for students interested in exploring the field of genetic counseling. Support for this internship is provided by the Association of University Centers on Disabilities with funding from the Maternal and Child Health Bureau.
