I-CAN Accessibility Project

The I-CAN! Accessibility project is a grant from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services to the Partnership for People with Disabilities and the VCU School of Social Work. Its purpose is to improve accessibility for people with disabilities who would like to complete an on-line Family Abuse Order of Protection. The project has developed a curriculum that was used to teach professionals who work at the Richmond Center for Independent Living in how to best assist with the process of obtaining a Family Abuse Order of Protection. It also created a short booklet called, "Understanding Family Abuse Protective Orders in Richmond, Virginia" in 2008. The booklet is available in English and in Spanish.
