Evaluation of "Demonstration to Improve the Direct Services Community Workforce to Support the Needs of People with Disabilities in the Community" Grant

Overview

Staff from the Partnership are conducting several components of the evaluation for the "Demonstration to Improve the Direct Services Community Workforce to Support the Needs of People with Disabilities in the Community" grant. This grant, awarded by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, is funding several interventions aimed at improving the recruitment and retention of direct care workers. The Partnership received a sub-award from the Department of Medical Assistance Services to conduct evaluation activities.

Major Activities

The major activities involve surveying direct service workers to assess reasons for job retention, with particular emphasis on the relationship of health insurance availability, training, and job longevity. In addition to surveying all Medicaid-reimbursed direct service workers who perform home health services, the Partnership is surveying home health employers.
