Web Site

Overview
The Partnership for People with Disabilities' role in this initiative is to develop and deliver training and technical assistance in consumer-directed services, thereby increasing awareness, understanding, and implementation of consumer-directed services as they are provided through the MR and DD Waivers in Virginia. This initiative coordinates with other projects and activities that are building foundations for self-determination. (Funded by the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services with funding from U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.)

Major Activities

  • Develop training curricula and materials for workshops and training events on consumer-directed services as provided through the MR and DD Waivers
  • Offer consumer-directed training at several levels, including awareness, support facilitation or brokering, and self-advocacy
  • Develop and support a network of technical assistant providers to offer support to families, individuals, facilitators, and direct service providers
  • Develop train-the-trainer materials following the pilot testing of the curricula
