All international students are required to have health insurance, which covers 80-100 percent of the cost of medical care and hospitalization while studying in the United States. Medical care can be quite expensive, and you need health insurance to help with these costs. Information about different health insurance plans will be available at the international student orientation and in the International Student and Scholar Services office.
If purchasing a health insurance policy outside the U.S., be sure the company has an office in the United States. Otherwise, doctors and hospitals here may not accept your insurance.
Health immunization record
You are required to submit an official copy, in English, of your immunization record to University Student Health Services upon your arrival. Please try to take care of this matter before you leave your country. Contact the VCU University Student Health Services for more information about required immunizations.
