VCU Education Abroad scholarships
The Office of International Education offers several scholarships.

Applications are available after Dec. 1, and are due mid-February of the spring semester.

Eligibility
You must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Study abroad during the summer of 2008 or during the academic year 2008-09.
  • Must be a full-time student with a completed minimum of 48 credit hours.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75.
  • Must be returning for at least one semester after your study abroad. Continuing in graduate school at VCU does not fulfill this requirement.
  • Preference will be given to students participating in programs in diverse locations.

Scholarship commitment
If you receive a scholarship, you are obligated to fulfill the following commitments:

  • Register at VCU for a minimum of one semester of full-time academic work following your study abroad.
  • Submit a written report or photo essay within 30 days of returning to the U.S, evaluating your experience from personal, academic and professional development perspectives. Your material may be used by VCU Education Abroad for future publicity purposes.
  • Follow-on Project: During the semester in which they return, students must contribute one hour of service for every $100 they receive (up to a maximum of 10 hours). The students must participate in activities that will serve the Education Abroad office.

The English Speaking Union British Universities Summer School Scholarship

VCU will nominate one student for a full-tuition scholarship plus travel allowance to participate in a summer study in one of the following course options:

International Shakespeare Globe Centre: Teaching Shakespeare Through Performance Institute

The University of Oxford: English Literature

The University of Oxford: History, Politics and Society

Scottish Universities International Summer School: Text and Context: British Literature from 1900 to Present

The nominee must be a Virginia resident between the ages of 18 and 23, who will have completed their junior year by this June.

Please inform your friends of this opportunity. If someone is interested in applying, have them come to the Education Abroad office immediately as we can only nominate one student from the entire school, and the application must be completed in early January.
