Comments:
My primary duty is to work with others in the Chemical and Biological Safety Section of OEHS, as well as other Departments, to ensure that asbestos is properly identified and safely removed from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Buildings.  A secondary, but equally important function of my duties is to manage the exposure risk to VCU building occupants from airborne asbestos fibers in buildings that contain asbestos.  This includes working with information systems personnel, physical plant personnel and others to ensure that existing asbestos is disturbed as little as possible prior to its removal.  Finally, I help the Department of Preventative Medicine, as well as other Departments with asbestos training.
