Bio
Dr. Gamble
is the Convening Lead Author for the U.S. Climate Change Science
Program’s (CCSP) Synthesis and Assessment Product
4.6: Analyses of the Impacts of Global Change on Human
Health and Welfare and Human Systems. At the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency, she is engaged in research
and assessment topics related to the impacts of global change
on human health, human settlements and human well-being, including: Epidemiological
analyses of the relationship of extreme temperature and violent
behavior and implications for climate change; analyses of health
effects associated with weather extremes, including heat/cold
morbidity impacts in children; effects of inclement weather
on accidents and injuries; impacts of climate change on vector
and water borne disease; and impacts of climate change on aeroallergens
and on air pollution-related morbidity and mortality. From
1999-2005, Dr. Gamble served as the Co-Chair of the Human Contributions
and Responses Interagency Working Group at the CCSP. In
that capacity, she collaborated with colleagues in NOAA, NASA,
NSF, and EPRI to fund cooperative agreements addressing issues
related to climate change and human health. Dr. Gamble
completed her studies at the University of Texas at Dallas
[Ph.D. in Political Economy (1997)]. She was a U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency STAR Doctoral Fellow while at UT Dallas where
she taught Health Economics and Econometrics. She completed
a post-doctoral fellowship at the Tulane University Medical
School (1997-1998) where she taught environmental policy and
biostatistics. Subsequently she joined EPA as a post-doctoral
fellow in the Global Change Research Program (1998-1999) where
she remains today.
